Discipleship & Nurture

A disciple first, then a Christian. Jesus calls all believers to follow Him as His Disciples. At TMC, we seek to help each of us answer Jesus’ Call to Discipleship by offering the following platforms for learning and growing as His Disciples.

Fri 31 Mar, 7.30-10.00pm
(register by Sun 21 Feb)

Fridays 31 Mar – 24 Nov (32 sessions)

ALL SESSIONS to be held from 7.30-10.00pm | TMC

Cost of Study Manual: $25

DISCIPLE II proclaims the transforming power of Scripture while teaching Bible study skills that take participants deeper into the Scripture. The importance of keeping Bible study related to witness is reinforced while participants are encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines arising out of Scripture for the purpose of changing habits and transforming lives. Each session persons will be guided to experience the gift of Sabbath rest and renewal.

BIBLE STUDY WORKSHOPS are conducted on different topics or books of the bible, each of varying duration, on weekends or weekday nights.

Precept Upon Precept® (PUP) Bible Studies are in-depth, inductive studies in an easy-to-follow, daily format that takes approximately one hour per day.

Luke Part 1 - Who Is This Man Who Forgives Sins? (chapters 1-16) (11 lessons)
Every Thursday from 18 May to 24 Aug with a choice of two time slots: 2.00-5.00pm or 7.30-10.00pm | Cost: $22 for notes, to be sold on 23 Apr.

The Gospel of Luke is a walk through events in Jesus' life. Watch how the Son of Man, the Savior, enters the homes of the suffering, visits tax collectors, and dines with sinners. Learn from His words, His walk, and His relationships with common people what it really means "to follow Him." Hear what Jesus taught about the kingdom of God and how you, today, can be prepared for the difficult times ahead and to stand before the Son of Man.

Luke Part 2 - The Savior of Sinners - (chapters 17-24) (7 lessons)
Every Thursday from 14 Sep to 26 Oct with a choice of two time slots: 2.00-5.00pm or 7.30-10.00pm | Cost: $22 for notes, to be sold on 23 Apr.

What happens when Jesus, knowing crucifixion awaits Him, prepares to enter Jerusalem? How does He spend those final days? Handle His adversaries? What does He teach in the temple? And just what happens when Jesus dies and rises from the dead? These are important facts we need to know for ourselves, precepts for life that will prepare us for what lies ahead, and equip us to fulfill His calling on our lives. These are truths, prophecies, that seem ready to rise on the horizon of history.

Detailed course schedule

IN-DEPTH BIBLE STUDY GROUPS (DISCIPLE GROUPS) use the DISCIPLE bible study program, aimed at developing disciples through a disciplined study of the Bible. The study is conducted within the nurturing fellowship of a small group of believers committed to helping one another grow.

This programme has been offered within Methodist Churches (including TMC) for the past many years.

Those new to DISCIPLE will start with a DISCIPLE I Group (BECOMING DISCIPLE THROUGH BIBLE STUDY), a 34-week study of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. All participants in DISCIPLE I will read more than 70% of the Bible. The Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. Each DISCIPLE I group will meet weekly with a leader over 2-2.5 hours, for a period of 34 weeks. Each participant makes a commitment to daily preparation (30-45minutes per day) and weekly attendance and active participation in the group study sessions.

Those who have already completed DISCIPLE I can join in any of the following: DISCIPLE II (INTO THE WORD INTO THE WORLD), or DISCIPLE III (REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE), or DISCIPLE IV (UNDER THE TREE OF LIFE).

DISCIPLE II provides an in-depth study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts; DISCIPLE III considers the Prophets and the Letters of Paul; and DISCIPLE IV focuses on Old Testament Writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James and Jude, and Revelation. DISCIPLE II, III and IV are each of 32-week duration, and each seeks to stretch participants in their commitment and challenge them in their discipleship.

We invite all interested to register for any of DISCIPLE I, II, III and IV and where enough participants enroll in any of these, we will begin the groups.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS (ABC) are held on a regular basis on Sundays from 10.15 to 11.15am on various topics. Each is offered as a series with a break after each series.

Design for Discipleship

Design for Discipleship is a resource tool for developing disciples of Jesus Christ. It is about developing a deep and abiding relationship with God and putting into practice what has been learned from the Bible by beginning your personal journey in Biblical Discipleship.

In Book 1 “Your Life In Christ”, 4 concise easy-to-follow bible study sessions (God Cares for You; The Person of Jesus Christ; The Work of Christ; The Spirit Within You) reveal what it means to accept God’s love for you, keep Christ at the centre of your life, and live in the power of the Spirit.

You’ll discover why Jesus came to earth, how deeply God loves you, how Christ’s life and ministry on earth impacts you today, and how the Holy Spirit is working in your life.

Take the first step as Jesus’ authentic disciple, and experience Your Life in Christ.
