Discipleship & Nurture

A disciple first, then a Christian. Jesus calls all believers to follow Him as His Disciples. At TMC, we seek to help each of us answer Jesus’ Call to Discipleship by offering the following platforms for learning and growing as His Disciples.

Christian Believer

Fridays, 6 Mar to 13 Nov | 7.30pm-10.00pm

The Christian Believer study focusses on classical teachings of the Christian faith—presenting, explaining and interpreting them in a way that participants can understand, through the use of words, symbols, and hymns.

Over a 30-week period, participants will examine the writings of ancient and modern Christian commentators and view video presentations by leading Bible scholars. Similar in format to “Disciple Bible Study”, the study manual guides daily reading in Scripture and in the Book of Readings. Preferred pre-requisite of “Disciple I” for those who may be interested.

Please register at iSunday Counter.

IN-DEPTH BIBLE STUDY GROUPS (DISCIPLE GROUPS) use the DISCIPLE bible study program, aimed at developing disciples through a disciplined study of the Bible. The study is conducted within the nurturing fellowship of a small group of believers committed to helping one another grow.

This programme has been offered within Methodist Churches (including TMC) for the past many years.

Those new to DISCIPLE will start with a DISCIPLE I Group (BECOMING DISCIPLE THROUGH BIBLE STUDY), a 34-week study of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. All participants in DISCIPLE I will read more than 70% of the Bible. The Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. Each DISCIPLE I group will meet weekly with a leader over 2-2.5 hours, for a period of 34 weeks. Each participant makes a commitment to daily preparation (30-45minutes per day) and weekly attendance and active participation in the group study sessions.

Those who have already completed DISCIPLE I can join in any of the following: DISCIPLE II (INTO THE WORD INTO THE WORLD), or DISCIPLE III (REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE), or DISCIPLE IV (UNDER THE TREE OF LIFE).

DISCIPLE II provides an in-depth study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts; DISCIPLE III considers the Prophets and the Letters of Paul; and DISCIPLE IV focuses on Old Testament Writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James and Jude, and Revelation. DISCIPLE II, III and IV are each of 32-week duration, and each seeks to stretch participants in their commitment and challenge them in their discipleship.

We invite all interested to register for any of DISCIPLE I, II, III and IV and where enough participants enroll in any of these, we will begin the groups.

ADULT BIBLE CLASS (ABC) are held on a regular basis on Sundays from 10.15 to 11.15am on various topics. Each is offered as a series with a break after each series.

Design for Discipleship

Design for Discipleship is a resource tool for developing disciples of Jesus Christ. It is about developing a deep and abiding relationship with God and putting into practice what has been learned from the Bible by beginning your personal journey in Biblical Discipleship.

In Book 1 “Your Life In Christ”, 4 concise easy-to-follow bible study sessions (God Cares for You; The Person of Jesus Christ; The Work of Christ; The Spirit Within You) reveal what it means to accept God’s love for you, keep Christ at the centre of your life, and live in the power of the Spirit.

You’ll discover why Jesus came to earth, how deeply God loves you, how Christ’s life and ministry on earth impacts you today, and how the Holy Spirit is working in your life.

Take the first step as Jesus’ authentic disciple, and experience Your Life in Christ.
