How do I find out more about TMC’s Discipleship Journey?

You can find out more information on our website: https://tmc.org.sg/discipleship/ . We also have opportunities there for you to take your next step, and one of our team members will get back to you and help you get going.

How do I know what my next steps should be?

You can head to our Next Steps Form, and we have options of potential next steps you are able to take. These options should guide you towards what your next step could be.

What is “1,000 Movements” about?

Our Church theme for 2025 is “Church on the Move”. We believe God is inviting us to move ONWARDS in our discipleship journey and OUTWARDS to the world with the Gospel and with God’s love.
As a practical expression of this theme for our Church, we want to challenge us as a Church to make “1,000 movements” outwards this coming year. We have curated a series of “movement opportunities” that aim to both give exposure to our outreach and outward focused ministries in TMC, as well as challenge us all to step out of our comfort zones and serve the community around us.

What constitutes a movement opportunity?

We’ve defined a movement opportunity as opportunities that are outward-focused and serves the community beyond the four walls of the Church.

We have worked with our current OSC, W&E and Missions ministries to curate these movement opportunities. Our hope is twofold: firstly, to provide opportunities for our community to take a step of faith outwards and consider how they can be a blessing to those beyond the Church; but secondly, to expose more of our Church community to the work and needs of these ministries.

Can I bring along a non-church member or even a non-christian friend to a movement opportunity?

Yes, depending on the nature of some of our movement opportunities. You may want to read the description of the opportunity to see if it’s appropriate to bring a pre-believing friend along.

Can I organise my own movement opportunity as an individual or as a small group?

No. The primary reason is that we want to channel our members through our current ministries and partners, with the hope of exposing them to the existing work TMC is engaged in. However, we do have small group-friendly opportunities available; just search using the filter in the “Movement Opportunities” page.

There are a few other organisations that I’m interested in that are not included in the movement opportunities. Can those be included as a movement opportunity?

We are currently focused on working closely with our existing ministries and partners; all of which we have collaborated with to curate movement opportunities for everyone. However, if you really do feel passionate about one, you could check in with Jacob, who is the current Pastoral Overseer of Evangelistic Cluster. (email: jacob@tmc.org.sg)

Will there be any trainings or briefings for each movement opportunity?

Yes, there may be compulsory trainings and/or briefings for each of the movement opportunities. The details should be listed on the individual movement opportunities page on our microsite, and more information should be provided upon registration.

Are there any family-friendly opportunities for my family and I to volunteer in?

Yes, we have curated some family-friendly opportunities for you and your family to volunteer in together. Simply head to the movement opportunity page and use the filter function to search for “Family Friendly” opportunities.

Is there any age limits or restrictions for some of the movement opportunities?

Yes, some of the movement opportunities may not be suitable for some age groups. This is due to either existing policies of our partners (such as age restrictions at CSLMCH), or due to the nature of the opportunity (i.e manual labour work). Do check in with each individual movement opportunity to see if there are any restrictions or limits in each.

Will there be any costs incurred for each movement opportunity?

Yes, there may be some potential cost incurred for each movement opportunity, that will be borne by the individual. For some of the more costly trips, such as the Cambodia Mission Trips, the Church will also subsidise a portion of the cost. Do check the individual Movement Opportunities to see what cost may be incurred for each.
